Description
This submarine shaped cribbage board is the perfect gift for the US Navy man or woman in your life. This 3 track cribbage board is crafted with premium Walnut, Maple, and Sapele hardwoods in Billings, Montana.
Cribbage and submariners have a long history in the US Navy. During World War II, the USS Wahoo was sent to patrol the Yellow Sea, the first time a US submarine would patrol the region. The unknown of the new area left the crew tense, and the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer brought out a cribbage board to play and set the crew at ease.
The story goes that the commanding officer dealt the executive officer a perfect hand, 29 points, which the crew thought must be a lucky omen. That same day, the Wahoo sunk two enemy ships. The same thing happened three days later with a 28 point hand, and two more enemy ships sunk.
This submarine shaped cribbage board recognizes and celebrates the tradition of cribbage in submariner folklore. If you are looking for the perfect personalized Christmas gift, then look no further. Comes with a custom engraving on the front of this board to make it a personal treasure and a keepsake to last generations. Optionally get it engraved on the back as well for an extra fee.
